Micro CHP
Micro-CHP stands for micro combined heat and power. This technology generates heat and electricity simultaneously, from the same energy source, in individual homes or buildings. The main output of a micro-CHP system is heat, with some electricity generation, at a typical ratio of about 6:1 for domestic appliances.

Benefits of Micro-CHP
Micro-CHP is not an eligible technology under the Renewable Heat Incentive as it uses fossil fuel as its input. At the time of writing, however, the resultant electricity produced is eligible for payment through the Feed-In Tariff at a rate of 10.5p / kWh.
Any electricity you generate and don’t use can be sold back to the Grid at a rate of 3.1p / kWh.
It is difficult to predict the income of a micro-CHP boiler as the system will only generate electricity when the boiler is running. However, as a guideline, a standard micro-CHP boiler will generate about 1kW when fully heated.
Am I Suitable for Micro CHP
Micro-CHP boilers are approximately the same size as a standard conventional boiler, so most households should not have any sizing issues.
