Alex Salmond given climate award

Alex Salmond, Scotland’s First Minister, has been honoured with a climate award, joining both Arnold Shwarzenegger and Jean Charest as a recipient. Salmond has been awarded the third South Australia International Climate Change Award, which recognises efforts made by governments in tackling the issues of climate change. This is due to Scotland’s radical targets and aim to push for a 42% cut in emissions by 2020, which would leave the country at the forefront in terms of greener energy.

Talking about the award, he said,

“It is a great honour to receive this award, which I accept as a recognition of the fact that our legislation on climate change is truly world-leading. The Scottish Government recognises the urgency of addressing climate change and is an active partner in the common desire to create a sustainable future.”
