Domestic RHI Launches for Homeowners Switching To Renewable Heating

Homeowners replacing their expensive oil or LPG boilers will now receive payments from the new domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in a government drive to cut UK carbon emissions.

The scheme will run for 7 years and is the first of its kind in the world, offering financial incentives to homes with low carbon heating technologies such as biomass log and pellet boilers.

Scotland has some of the least energy efficient homes in Europe so switching your boiler to a biomass boiler could save you up to 45% each year on your heating bills and also bring down your CO2 emissions.

The technologies eligible for the payments include biomass boilers, solar thermal systems, ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps.

Domestic RHI Tariffs:

Solar thermal – 19.2p per kWh
Ground source heat pumps – 18.8p per kWh
Air source heat pumps – 7.3p per kWh
Biomass boilers – 12.2p per kWh
