Silverstone to host Green Grand Prix
Silverstone – the infamous race track – is set to host a Green Grand Prix next month. Competitors will be driving the latest hybrid and electric cars in a series of challenges to determine those considered best. The event will be held on October 12th. Many companies will send cars of their brand to the event for testing and evaluations, while many high performance electric cars will be there to allow the public to experience electric sports cars first hand.
RAC, who will be hosting the event, showed from a previous challenge that the behaviour of drivers can be greatly affected by new technology, one of which being ‘range anxiety’. Professional instructors will be on hand to teach an array of driving techniques to allow people to efficiently adapt to this new car technology.
Motoring strategist of RAC, Adrian Tink, said,
“Like any new car, if you want to get the best performance out of it you need to know how best to drive it – for new EV cars, that means maximising energy efficiency. RAC has long promoted efficient driving, especially with fuel prices at record highs, and every driver taking part in the day will learn skills they can transfer into their everyday driving.”
